The building, in its simplicity, is distinguished by the portal, decorated with a three-mullioned window and five coats of arms related to popes who were part of the Franciscan Order. Of great value is the majolica floor of the eighteenth century and the fourteenth-century frescoes located in the apse.

The church, built by the will of the Conventual Friars Minor and financed by the noble Sergio Bove, was built at the beginning of the fourteenth century. on the remains of a pre-existing chapel, together with the homonymous convent. Over the years, it underwent numerous remakes.
