It is one of the most interesting monasteries of the island overlooking the meadow of Vassiliki and the mountain range of Saint Peter (Agios Petros). Built in 1654, by the hieromonk Mitrofanis Chamosfakidis, it stands where a former Doric temple dedicated to the goddess Demeter used to be. The altar lies on an ancient capital of the temple while in the churchyard, Doric capitals and part of the tile floor of the temple are still preserved.
