The two-story library building constitutes a characteristic sample of neoclassical architecture of the mid-19th century. It was the house of the famous Typaldos-Iakovatos family which was granted to the Greek State in 1963. In 1968, it was declared as a work of art by the Ministry of Culture. In the 80s, restoration works were carried out by the Ministry of Culture. The ground floor is home to the Public Library of Lixouri which includes a significant manuscript division that has been enriched due to donations. The first floor operates as a museum and heirlooms of the Typaldos-Iakovatos family are also displayed there. The forecourt has been properly designed to host cultural events during summer.
