Kontogennada Mycenaean Tombs

Kontogennada village is the homeland of the distinguished archaeologist Spyros Marinatos from Kefalonia. He carried out field researches in this place which brought to light a Mycenaean cemetery full of rich treasures that are now exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Argostoli. Kontogennada is a traditional village in Kefalonia where the architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries is still preserved. It is one of the few villages that were not destroyed by the earthquakes of 1953.
