The International Folklore Festival of Lefkada constitutes an integral part of the aspects of both the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the island. It is the oldest folklore festival in Greece. It is among the most important folklore festivals worldwide and attracts the attention of institutions and individuals that are active in the field of promotion and management of folklore culture with a focus on traditional music and dance. The museum is housed on the first floor of the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Lefkada. The collection comprises three parts. The first one is the collection of Antonis Tzevelekis, inspirer for the International Folklore Festival of Lefkada. This collection was donated to the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Lefkada. The second part consists of items relevant to the events of the festival (musical instruments, traditional costumes –original or not–, discs and cassettes with traditional music from the countries/regions that take part in the festival, medals, flags). Finally, the third part includes gifts from the dance groups that participated in the festival revealing different cultures (dolls dressed in traditional costumes, hand-woven textiles, discs, ceramic plates, and other small objects-gifts for the Organizing Committee of the festival).
