The palace was erected by the noble Avitaja family between the end of the 16th and the middle of the 17th century, as attested by an inscription with a coat of arms on the outside. The building, former seat of the Accademia degli Incogniti, has a simple but imposing limestone facade. It is currently the seat of the Town Hall.
