With the nineteenth-century suppression of religious orders, the cells and the large cloister are used as barracks, theater and finally school. Today it houses the municipal gallery of contemporary art.
The former convent of the Dominicans, adjacent to the homonymous church, was built in the middle of the sixteenth century on the remains of a monastery dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
