The bell tower dominates, along with that of the Cathedral, the city. The interior, with a Greek cross plan, is enriched with stuccoes and canvas eighteenth century. Some of the canvases are painted by pupils of the academy of Corrado Giaquinto, such as Nicola and Saverio Porta.
The construction of the church began in 1556, following the legacy of the notary Giovanni De Agno. Of the original sixteenth-century plant, adjacent to the Benedictine monastery, today there is almost nothing left. The current baroque aspect dates back to the 18th century.
